- To use a broom on wet concrete, begin when the surface is firm enough to hold a broom's bristles without the broom sinking or the concrete pulling up excessively. Dampen the broom, then pull it across the concrete in straight, consistent, and even strokes to create a non-slip, textured surface. The key is timing: the concrete must not be too wet, but also not too dry, which requires practice.
