- Each unit comes with One 2 ton air conditioner and One 8' exhaust hose(14"diameter) & One 5 Gallon Condensation Recovery Container
- **Air conditioners such as these are not as simple as plug and play. You as the customer need to figure out how to exhaust the warm air that is ejected from the 14" exhaust tube out of the room you are trying to cool. The first picture shows removing a ceiling tile in an office setting and the second picture shows creating your own solution out a door/window.
- **Our units are 110 volt but units require a 20amp outlet which is not standard for the average home. That means the plug has one of the prongs turned 90 degrees. (we have 20 amp plug to regular wall plug adaptors taped permanently to our cords) This means it will plug into a standard wall outlet but if it is not on a 20 amp circuit then it will keep popping the breaker.
- PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONERS ARE ALSO COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS SPOT COOLERS, EACH UNIT WEIGHS 311 LBS
- SPECS: 42" DEEP x 22" WIDE x 4' 6" HIGH
- When it comes to AC units, industry experts often throw around a lot of words that sound pretty complicated. For example, when someone talks about a ton of air conditioning, they aren t referring to weight. Understanding some AC terms can be helpful when it s time for you to rent. We breakdown some of the important facts.
- *
- What s a BTU?
- The British Thermal Unit (BTU) is measure of the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one lb. of water by one degree Fahrenheit. It s a common unit of measurement for air conditioning and heating equipment.
- *
- So, What s a Ton?
- A ton has nothing to do with weight in the air conditioning world. A ton of refrigeration is the amount of heat needed to melt a ton (2,000 lb) of ice at 32 degrees Fahrenheit. There are 12,000 BTUs to one ton. Most air conditioners are rated in tons or BTU, so a 4-ton unit is 48,000 BTUs.

- Choosing the Best Cooling Option for You
- It s a good idea to understand what kind of cooling you need when choosing to rent a spot cooler. Generally, in a comfort cooling setting, you can estimate one ton of cooling for every 500 square feet (assuming you have a standard 8-foot ceiling). In a more densely populated, cross ventilated area, we suggest one ton of cooling for every 250 square feet. (For example a tent)
- Keep in mind, when renting a unit, you ll want to anticipate how many people are working in the area that is being cooled. In general, each individual person generates roughly 600 BTUs.
- CUSTOMER REVIEW:
- Used: 2 air conditioner units
- Space size: 50x80 ft building
- Outdoor Temp: low/mid 90's and very humid
- We used the air conditioners to cool our insulated shed for a family reunion. It was a very hot and humid day and the building temp and humidity was similar to the outdoor temp. We were able to cool our space about 6 degrees and reduce the humidity significantly. Using these units really took the edge off the unbearable heat and made it comfortable to be inside, although it was not as cool as a typical air-conditioned space.
- Venting the units outside was a challenge in a windowless shop. We ended up taking out a window in the large door to vent. Units require a 20amp outlet which is not standard for the average home.
- *More side notes for Air Conditioning. If you are trying to cool a tent you will likely need to rent a large tow behind genset to power the A/c. In most cases you will spend more on the air conditioning than on the actual tent and sometimes double the tent cost so keep that in mind when planning. Every setup is a little different so pricing will very. -Director of Operations
